Acting Course Audition
Auditions
Auditions and recalls for the One and Two Year Acting Courses are held on Saturdays. You will need to keep either the whole of the morning or
afternoon free.
If you are not able to attend one of the scheduled audition sessions, then we will try to arrange an individual
audition. This may take a slightly different structure to that described below.
If you wish to advise us of any difficulties or disabilities, which may affect your performance at audition, we
will be happy to make any adjustments we can to make sure you are given every opportunity to demonstrate your
skills.
If you are going to be unavailable for audition between certain dates, please tell us on your application form.
The audition will normally begin with a talk about the school and the training. You will then be asked to take
part in a series of acting and improvisation exercises, either individually or in groups.
You should also prepare two two-minute speeches from published plays. They should be contrasting, one classical and one modern. We advise you to
choose the style you feel you do best. You may not use both speeches at this stage, but you will need both if you get a recall.
At the end of the session, you will be told the result of your audition. If unsuccessful at this stage, you may
be given advice on how to progress; if successful, you will be asked to attend a recall audition at a later date.
Recalls
For this session, you will be working with a director. You may be asked to re-work your speech, read through a scene/s of the director's choice,
and take part in further acting/improvisation exercises. You will also have a short interview, after which you
will be told whether you will be offered a place, and for which course (one or two year). An offer letter and
Agreement will follow in the post within a week.
