Drama and Acting Awards
Dance and Drama Awards (DaDAs) are funded by the Learning and Skills Council. The awards involve subsidised
tuition fees and access to a student support fund.
Eligibility
You are eligible to be considered for a DaDA if you are a citizen of the UK, EU or EEA and have lived in the EU
continuously for three years. You may also be eligible if you have special leave to remain in the UK. DaDAs are
currently available for the one-year course, and it is planned that they should be available for the two-year
course for 2009 entry.
One Year Course: everyone who attends a recall audition before the end of April is automatically assessed for a DaDA. In this
first stage, potential recipients are selected on the basis of excellence and the potential to succeed in the
industry. If you are selected, you will be invited to attend a further DaDA audition in May to finalise the
allocation of awards. At this stage, your financial status may be taken into account.
Two Year Course: everyone will be automatically assessed for a DaDA for the second year of the course. The basis for selection is the same as for
the one-year course.
National Certificate in Professional Acting
If you receive a DaDA, you must also take the Trinity College London's National Certificate in Professional Acting
qualification along with the Acting Course. You may elect to take this qualification even if you do not receive a
DaDA.
The Certificate is equivalent to the first two years of a university degree. It can be topped-up later to a full
honours degree (see www.trinitycollege.co.uk ).
