Emma Lucia Hands appointed Director of Drama Studio London

We are delighted to announce that Emma Lucia Hands has been appointed Director of Drama Studio London.

Emma has been a dedicated member of the DSL faculty since 2018 when she joined as the Artistic Director for the Diploma and Short Courses. In August 2020 she became Interim Head of School.

Before joining DSL, Emma worked nationally and internationally in theatre, film and television. She has predominantly worked as a producer and director in theatre, for many years at Clwyd Theatr Cymru directing productions as an Associate Artist of the company.
We are confident Emma will continue to use her expertise to maintain and build DSL’s reputation as a leading conservatoire for actor training.

Emma has provided fundamental leadership and support to Drama Studio London through exceedingly challenging and unprecedented times. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Emma for her passion and commitment to Drama Studio London.” – Sara Raybould, Senior Pro Vice-Chancellor

I first worked at DSL in 2017 when I directed Chekhov’s THE CHERRY ORCHARD. It was the most wonderful experience – working with a group of talented, committed and generous trainee actors. I didn’t want to leave when the experience ended. So it was a great honour to be invited to join the school the following year as an Artistic Director.

It is our responsibility at DSL to prepare the next generation of actors to be the best they can possibly be and equip them with confidence for the broad range of opportunities in the creative industries.” Emma Lucia Hands, Director of Drama Studio London
