DSL Student Receives Lilian Baylis Award 2025

The Lilian Baylis Awards celebrate exceptional talent from London’s ten accredited drama schools, with each institution nominating one outstanding student. These prestigious awards honor the legacy of Lilian Baylis (1874-1937), the visionary who transformed The Old Vic Theatre and played a pivotal role in assisting in the development of The Old Vic National Theatre; Sadler’s Wells Opera, which became the English National Opera; Sadler’s Wells Ballet, which became Birmingham Royal Ballet; and the Royal Ballet School.
Presented annually at The Old Vic Theatre each June, the awards provide crucial financial support to help promising students complete their training without financial hardship. The students nominated show a potential to make a significant contribution to the development of theatre and are in the second year of a three-year course.

All at DSL are delighted that Jane Glatley from our BA in Professional Acting has been selected as one of the recipients of the Lilian Baylis Awards. Jane is a worthy award winner, demonstrating a true commitment to the rigours of the intensive training. As an actor, she has talent and generosity and deserves this support and recognition as a fine example of the next generation of emerging creatives. Huge congratulations!

The 2025 awards were announced in The Stage, continuing the celebrated tradition of supporting the next generation of theatrical talent.
