Course Overview

In our modern world, the ability to speak up confidently, clearly and with presence is vital to succeed as young people move out of education and into the workplace. Being able to communicate with ease equips young people to lead and be valuable, contributing members of society.

At Drama Studio London, we have trained remarkable stage and film actors such as Forrest Whittaker (Last King of Scotland), Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves) and Pip Torrens (The Crown). And just as importantly, we’ve trained many more individuals to understand the power of voice who’ve gone on to take lead management roles in the world of commerce, law, media, technology and the creative arts.

Drama Studio London’s professional practitioners in voice, movement and acting will work with your Y10-13 young adults in this Performance Skills for Life Easter Programme 2026.

Performance Skills for Life is designed for young people with ideas to share. They may be aspiring actors. Alternatively, they may be passionate to pursue a career as a scientist, medic, economist, engineer, artist, writer, politician or lawyer. Using tried and tested actor training methods we give them the confidence to inhabit their potential, whatever their path; to harness their individual voice as they move from school to university, to the workplace and beyond.

“Drama Studio London is committed to working with schools and young people to provide the benefits of actor training skills, essential in today’s connected world.  The importance of effective communication and playfulness are at the heart of what it means to be not just an actor, but a fully engaged human being.  The skills we teach inspire creativity and confidence – a positive combination for every young person’s future navigation of the world around them.”

Emma Lucia Hands – Artistic Director, Drama Studio London

Drama Studio London is proud to be supporting both CDMT’s Manifesto for the Arts and the UK’s KS4 and KS5 Oracy and Literacy National Curriculum. We also offer teacher CPD alongside this course to support development of practice for peers working in these Key Stages.

What will you study?

This course is an innovative performance arts programme designed for Y10-Y13 students to use in the real world. It’s inspired by craft skills taught for stage and screen acting by professional practitioners. The texts used for training exercises come from a mix of plays and non-fiction work focused on enhancing naturalism and authenticity in public settings.

“GCSEs & A-levels are understandably front and centre for our teens and we as parents support their academic growth.  But young people also need to know how to walk into a room, to hold their space, to speak with confidence, to move with intention, to really own who they are. Our Performance for Life Easter course is not an “add on” to academic success:  it’s the foundation beneath it. Once a young person knows what this embodied presence feels like, they can carry it with them everywhere and that’s what this course is designed to support.”

Tizz Wallman – Course Leader
