DSL Alumna Laura Harling receives a British Empire Medal

Drama Studio London is enormously proud of alumna Laura Harling who has been awarded a British Empire Medal in the 2023 New Year’s Honours.

Laura Graduated from DSL in 2009 and has had a wonderful career as an actor and director. In 2016 she founded The Dot Collective, a charity which provides professional theatre for those in care, specifically with dementia, across the UK. The work aims to reduce isolation and improve quality of life.

For the past two years Laura has returned to DSL to devise a theatre in the community play as a part of DSL’s Festive Tour. Her cast tour to residential care homes and community centres across London with excellent audience feedback. In the December 2022 tour, the casts performed ‘The Steadfast Tin Solider’ and ‘Hansel & Gretel’. A participating care home commented “the actors were very kind and interacted well with the residents. The plays were fantastic, and the residents enjoyed it very much.” – Meadows Residential Care Home.

We look forward to working with Laura again in the future and would like to congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition of her achievements.
